Upcoming 4 week church membership class beginning on January 10th at 12:30pm
With the start of a New Year, we want to give those who are new to Cumbernauld Free Church or who have been attending for some time the opportunity to consider the relevance of church membership. Let me tell you why…
We believe ‘church’ is very simply the family of Jesus. The church is not a building, nor is it an institution, no, - at its heart - the church is the family of people who know and love Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
Recognising that we are part of this family - solely because of God’s grace - we see church membership as an expression of our commitment to Him and the church for which Jesus died. Moreover, we want to take seriously our privileges and responsibilities as disciples of Jesus.
Our wise Triune God has ordained the church in order that we encounter, know, and love Him and others better, and to grow in our Christian faith with the support of other believers. To that end, God has appointed elders and deacons to teach, equip, care for and serve us. He has also ordained (1) the preaching of His Word, (2) the right administration of the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper and (3) pastoral oversight.
At CFC, we really believe that church membership enables us to express our commitment to Jesus and one another better. It, also, helps us work more effectively for the advancement of Christ's kingdom here in Cumbernauld and further afield.
Essentially, church membership is all about helping us to better glorify and serve God!
Therefore, we have designed a four week membership course that gives an overview of who we are, what we believe, and what our mission as a church is. We believe this is an ideal class for those who are new to Cumbernauld Free Church or for those who may have been attending for some time and would like to know more about joining our church family.
For those who are interested, the course begins on January the 10th at 12:30pm in the small hall. The meeting will last for 30 minutes and lunch will be provided afterwards at the manse.
