I am taking part in the National Day of Prayer because it is an opportunity for God’s people to come together in a focussed time of prayer; bringing our families, friends, colleagues, neighbours and leaders before God to ask for his guidance, his blessing and his mercy on our nation.
We are in a spiritual warfare and prayer is an essential part of our work as God's people. The National Day of Prayer can help us to focus on how essential prayer is in the ministry of the church as we seek to glorify God in this nation.
We are told we are more than conquerors through Christ and that we can boldly approach his throne and make our requests known through him. So, we come to his throne not with a hope that our prayers will work in changing our nation for the better, but with the assurance that God is already at work in our nation and we are simply joining him in that exciting work.
