Why I am taking part in the National Day of Prayer

"Christians praying together at an appointed time, even when they may be physically miles apart from each other, is a massively important (and I believe, powerful) instrument in the hand of the Lord, to change our nation for the better, and to bring it little by little, under His Headship: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds." (2nd Corinths 10:4) Even if only a few souls had covenanted to do this together I would want to be a part of it, because it is arguably the most important work of all. That this is now coming down from our General Assembly is hugely encouraging because it means that we as a Church are taking seriously our spiritual responsibility for the nation as a whole. Scotland needs this, and we need it too."
